Ongoing support


  • Addressing homelessness doesn’t stop as soon as accommodation has been found.
  • Our holistic model ensures young people are continually supported to get where they want to be.
  • We take a look at the causes as well as the effects of homelessness, to offer support that prevents the cycle from beginning again and looks toward a brighter future.

Health and wellbeing

The events that lead to a person becoming homeless can be quite distressing. As well as accommodation, we want to ensure the wellbeing of each person is catered to.

Many of our health services are located at Frontyard Youth Services, which is a drop-in centre offering a range of health services such as alternative therapies.

Services such as our animal assisted, music and art therap, form part of our holistic, trauma-informed approach to care.

Funding for education and employment

Education can become quite costly with big expenses needed before a course can be started.

To aid with this, the Victorian Government offers brokerage funds through Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways (CEEP).

Around 100 packages are available each year offering up to $1,200.

This can be used to pay for education, employment and training related expenses such as:

  • school fees
  • computers, books and uniforms
  • travel (MYKI)

Living skills

Through Creating Connections Living Skills we can provide training throughout Melbourne’s north and west to prepare young people for independent living.

It is available for people aged 16 to 25 and covers a range of topics including cooking and budgeting. 

Legal assistance

Youthlaw is a community legal centre that offers free legal information, advice and casework to people under 25 and those who support them.

Assistance is offered face to face, over the phone, email and Skype. 

We’re also about prevention and response

MCM wants to assist people no matter what part of their journey they are experiencing.

To stop the cycle, we offer a range of preventative response services to keep people at home when possible, such as:

  • building awareness.
  • creating connections in the community.
  • family mediation and reconciliation services.

Our response services are aimed at getting people back on track as soon as possible and offer accommodation assistance, case management services and support for young people leaving out-of-home care.
