MCM’s Early Childhood Intervention Services team celebrate neurodiversity: recognising strengths, supporting inclusion

Neurodiversity Celebration Week (16–20 March 2026) recognises the many ways people think, learn and communicate. At MCM, we work alongside neurodivergent children, young people and adults. We value identity, we focus on strengths and we aim to make environments more accessible.

Neuroaffirming practice means support that is safe and respectful for neurodivergent people. We listen to autistic people and people with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence. We learn from lived experience and update our approaches when something requires improvement.

MCM’s Early Childhood Intervention Services provide evidence-based therapy supports for children with developmental delay and disability.

Our approach in Early Childhood Intervention

Across our ECIS services, in order to provide expert, neuroaffirming support we:

  • recognise each child’s strengths and interests
  • affirm identity and communication preferences
  • partner with families to guide decisions
  • remove barriers that limit participation
  • use tools like visuals, sensory supports and AAC to support regulation and communication

This reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusive, evidence informed practice.

If you’re seeking early supports that affirm your child’s identity and strengths, MCM can help. We offer individual and group based Early Childhood Intervention supports that focus on connection, participation and family led goals.
