Reserve your child's place at an Early Childhood Intervention holiday program

Our Early Childhood Intervention Team (ECIS) will be running a series of interactive social groups during the holidays for children with developmental delay or disability. Through our Social Skills, Mad Science, Mini Master Chef, and Sharing Stories with Friends Programs, our ECIS team will work with children on fundamental skills for social interactions, organisation, and developing independence skills required for positive classroom participation. Group sessions will take please in our centres in Mill Park, Greensborough and Brunswick.

Mill Park

Location: MCM Norparrin Centre, 152 Mill Park Drive, Mill Park VIC 3082
Directions

Program 1: Social Skills, Wednesday 29 & Thursday 30 June 2022

A social skills group based on the 'We Thinkers' program, for children practicing and developing independence skills required for positive classroom participation.

  • 10:00AM – 1:00PM
  • Goals for the group include: Extending social and emotional skills, making friends, following instructions and routines.

Program 2: Mini Master Chef, Thursday 7 July & Friday 8 July 2022

A creative and fun group that uses cooking to practice social and organisational skills.

  • Goals for the group include: Learning how to follow a simple recipe, working together in a group, participating in fine motor skills, exposure to different foods.

Greensborough

Location: MCM Kalparrin Centre, 1 Kalparrin Ave, Greensborough VIC 3088

An executive function program for children practicing and developing independence skills required for positive classroom participation.

  • Participants will engage in science experiences by participating and cooperating as a group
  • 10:00AM – 1:00PM

 

Brunswick

Location: MCM Early Years Hub Hartnett House, 123 Albion Street, Brunswick.

Program: Sharing stories with friends, Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 July

Develop your child’s storytelling and narrative skills.

  • 2 x 3 hour sessions
  • 10:00AM – 1:00PM
  • Children will participate in a range of individual and group activities targeting the following skills:
    • Interacting with peers and answering questions about stories
    • Identifying the characters, plot, and parts of a story
    • Turn taking and practicing learning to wait
    • Re-telling what has happened in a story and presenting their ideas to the group

Important information for all groups

  • Sessions are staffed by our highly experienced specialist teachers or allied health Speech/Occupational Therapists, who make active play fun for all.
  • Following each session, staff will document how each child participated and worked towards set goals. At the end of the group, families will receive a summary report, detailing children's progress to use for NDIS reviews.

Cost

  • Places are limited.
  • The cost of the group is split between the number of the children in the group. This means you will need to confirm your place in the group two weeks before it starts.
  • Groups are billed as a Program of Support. As stated in the Program of Supports, when you enrol in a group program, you will be charged for all scheduled sessions., regardless of how many sessions your child attends. Group program charges will apply 14 days before the program is due to commence. If you cancel with more that 14 days’ notice, you will not be charged.
