    Ryn's story

    A teenager from regional Victoria, family violence had made Shaini’s life at home too dangerous .

    Imagine a situation in which leaving home – even without shelter – was the safest choice. That was the dilemma facing Shaini in her teens because of family violence.

    “Not having a safe place to sleep was horrible. I just wanted somewhere safe.”

    Shaini was able to access MCM’s Better Futures program. It assists across a range of areas including housing, education, employment and health and wellbeing.

    “It’s more than four walls and a roof. I have what I need to go and study, get a job, live my life.”
