6000 origami homes at Parliament

On Wednesday 2 August, we had the privilege of standing united with our passionate sector partners, colleagues, ministers and advocates at Parliament steps, joining the Victorian Homelessness Network to call for the pressing need to increase social housing in our state.

  • At the last Census, 30,660 Victorians were without a home.
  • 6,800 of those without a home were children.
  • There are currently 57,000 households on the social housing waitlist with the numbers continuing to grow each week.

This Homelessness Week (7-13 August) we are coming together to urge the State and Federal Governments to construct a pipeline of at least 6,000 new social houses in Victoria per year and create a National Plan to End Homelessness.

Housing is a human right, and we have an opportunity to build a more equitable and inclusive society, ensuring that everyone has a place to call home.
