Step-by-step guidance to help you feel confident and in control
Starting with a Specialist Support Coordinator can feel like a big step — but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. These professionals are here to support you through the complex parts of your NDIS plan and help you build a better quality of life.
Here’s what to expect when you begin working with an SSC:
Your coordinator will take time to get to know you — your goals, challenges, preferences, and current supports. They’ll also explain their role and how they can help you make the most of your NDIS plan.
Your SSC will help you unpack your NDIS plan, what’s included, how to use your funding, and what services are available.
Your coordinator will research, recommend, and connect you with reputable service providers that meet your needs. They’ll also make sure these services are safe and reliable. If you have a Level 2 Support Coordinator the SSC will work closely with them to ensure there are no gaps in service provision
Once services are in place, your SSC will help coordinate them from scheduling appointments to liaising with providers, resolve barriers that prevent access to services and help you navigate your future supports. They will be an important part of sharing information with your other providers and ensure everyone is working together as a team.
If something isn’t working, your coordinator can help to resolve issues with your providers and other mainstream services. Whether it’s adjusting services or resolving a crisis, they’re there to support your rights and choices.
Over time, your coordinator will check in to ensure your supports are still working for you. They can help you prepare for plan reviews and adjust services as your needs change.
