About the Opportunity

Love music and encouraging others to engage in fun - then look no further for a fitting volunteer role!

The Community Friend Program (CFP) is recruiting another Volunteer support a Music Group in Melbourne’s North (Coburg). CFP supports adult participants (18-64 years old), who are living with a mild disability or mental health experience. 

The music group will be held at a music studio in Coburg. This is every fortnight on a Wednesday, 3pm to 5pm.

The music group, The Cockatoos, have performed live four time, to date. 

About the Volunteer Role

As co-facilitator, you will support the Lead Volunteer in contacting participants and confirming their attendance to the group sessions, along with providing the CFP Coordinator with feedback directly after the sessions.

There will be up to 6 participants and 4 other volunteers in the group sessions.  

Consistent communication with the group members and CFP coordinator is essential for this role.

Volunteer Qualities

The qualities we look for in volunteers are:

  • A commitment to the Community Friend Program and the participants (of at least 12 months)
  • Maturity and reliability
  • Effective communications and social skills
  • The ability to be a good role model
  • The ability to focus on the needs of others
  • The ability to seek advice as appropriate
  • An understanding of the importance of social connections and friendship

Volunteers must be 18 years or over, undergo a NDIS Worker Screener Check, Complete NDIS online module and present certificate of completion, undergo an international police check if you have lived outside Australia for more than one year in the last 10 years, provide 2 professional referees and

provide a commitment for a minimum of 12 months.
