About the Opportunity

We are pleased to advise that the MCM Community Friend Program (CFP) is recruiting another Volunteer support a Movie Group in Melbourne’s West suburbs (Altona North and Sunshine). CFP supports adult participants (18-64 years old), who are living with a mild disability or mental health experience. 

About the Role

Coordinating participant attendance and providing timely feedback of group sessions with CFP staff.

The Movie group meet together at Reading Cinema, Altona North and occasionally at Village Cinema in Sunshine.
This occurs every FIRST Saturday of each month between February to November.

The group will have around 5-6 participants living with a mild disability and/or mental health issue. This includes physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory disability, acquired brain injury, and mental health (psychosocial). 

Volunteer Qualities

The qualities we look for in volunteers are:

  • A commitment to the Community Friend Program and the participants (of at least 12 months)
  • Maturity and reliability
  • Effective communications and social skills
  • The ability to be a good role model
  • The ability to focus on the needs of others
  • The ability to seek advice as appropriate
  • An understanding of the importance of social connections and friendship

Volunteers must be 18 years or over, undergo a NDIS Worker Screener Check, Complete NDIS online module and present certificate of completion, undergo an international police check if you have lived outside Australia for more than one year in the last 10 years, provide 2 professional referees and

provide a commitment for a minimum of 12 months.
