About the Opportunity

The role objective is to assist young people to overcome educational barriers and engage with the curriculum in an effective way. The educator works in close collaboration with the LL City Hub team, Hester Hornbrook classroom teams, and other relevant stakeholders.

The role is designed to be highly flexible and responsive to the needs of the students. The work may be delivered on Hester Hornbrook campuses, in the community, in student’s houses, and in other settings. The role may include one on one support with students, secondary consultations with other staff, attending excursions, group work, and interpreting educational data. This is not a classroom teacher role.

About you

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Can work alongside educators, allied health workers and youth workers to deliver teaching and learning to students.
  • Is excited about working in a multi-disciplinary team to find innovative new ways of working.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing teaching young people, particularly those who have experienced trauma and adversity.
  • Assess student needs and formulate relevant education plans.

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in Teaching.
  • Registration with Victorian Institute of Teaching (current VIT).
  • Experience and demonstrable knowledge in the delivery of services with young people, following best practice guidelines.
  • Working experience and knowledge in a wide range of presentations in young people, and an ability to engage them successfully.

Screening Criteria:

  • VIT Registration
  • National Police check
  • Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain
  • Valid Victorian Driver's license
  • Right to Work in Australia
