This Senior Peer Worker position sits within the Check-In Community Mental Health program at FYS in Melbourne’s CBD. As part of a multidisciplinary Allied Health team, the role draws on lived experience of mental health and AOD needs, including other co-occurring needs (e.g. homelessness, family violence etc) to build authentic relationships with young people aged 12–25. The aim is to foster safety, trust, and hope, and to support young people in achieving their mental health and social goals.
In addition to direct peer support, this role contributes to service development by embedding lived experience perspectives within a collaborative, recovery-oriented practice framework. The Senior Peer Worker will provide secondary consultation, reflective practice, and mentoring to other Peer Workers, and will play an active role in workforce development initiatives, as well as contributing to implementation and ongoing development of the Check-In program. This is an opportunity to lead by example, sharing your insights and shaping how lived experience is valued and integrated across the service.
MCM offers a supportive work environment with regular supervision (including options for external peer-specific supervision), a comprehensive induction process, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
We are looking for someone who can:
coordinate capacity of the Peer Workforce team across Frontyard to deliver Intentional Peer Support led services to young people.
Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and provide secondary consultation or service development input that reflects lived experience perspectives.
