We are pleased to advise that the MCM Community Friend Program (CFP) is recruiting another Volunteer support a Movie Group in Melbourne’s North (Preston). CFP supports adult participants (18-64 years old), who are living with a mild disability or mental health issue.

About the Participant

The Movie group meet together at the Hoyts cinemas at the Northland Shopping Centre. The group will have around 8-10 participants living with a mild disability and/or mental health issue. This includes physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory disability, acquired brain injury, and mental health (psychosocial).

The group will see 2 regular volunteers supporting the sessions. Movie sessions run once a month on the 1st Saturday, 12pm - 3pmPlease note A volunteer role interview/induction is preferred to be in person and not online. We do not require specific qualifications. 

Volunteer Qualities

The qualities we look for in volunteers are:

  • A commitment to the Community Friend Program and the participants (of at least 12 months)
  • Maturity and reliability
  • Effective communications and social skills
  • The ability to be a good role model
  • The ability to focus on the needs of others
  • The ability to seek advice as appropriate
  • An understanding of the importance of social connections and friendship

Volunteers must be 18 years or over, undergo a NDIS Worker Screener Check, Complete NDIS online module and present certificate of completion, undergo an international police check if you have lived outside Australia for more than one year in the last 10 years, provide 2 professional referees and

provide a commitment for a minimum of 12 months.
