Frontyard is a service for young people who are disengaged, at risk of, or experiencing homelessness in Melbourne’s CBD.

Frontyard is an integrated service model that addresses the physical, emotional and social needs of people aged 12 to 24.

Providing a safe and inviting drop-in centre

Drop ins are always welcome here

No need for appointments or referrals.

Young people experiencing homelessness can have a shower, or grab some toiletries, underwear, and socks.

While accommodation may bring comfort to young people left without a home, it’s not enough to stop the cycle of homelessness in the community.

We support an integrated approach, which provides vulnerable young people with holistic, trauma-informed and healing orientated support.

Our services seek to understand the deeper issues that put young people at risk of homelessness to begin with.

By treating these causes rather than just the effects, we hope to prevent people becoming entrenched in this cycle.

We offer a wide range of services to cater to personal needs, including:

  • health and wellbeing
  • family support
  • case management
  • leaving care
  • living skills
  • legal assistance
  • youth participation

Being the voice of change

According to the latest Census (2016), over 6,000 young Victorians don’t have a place to call their own on any given night.

It’s clear that things need to change. In addition to supporting young people around the clock, we strive to be the advocates for change.

We work with partners in the sector and in the community to provide education to the public.

We advocate for more Commonwealth funding and work to change policies and societal factors that push people into homelessness.

We take to the streets

In addition to providing a full suite of support services in one central space, our mobile workforce takes to the streets.

The Frontyard Assertive Outreach program aims to engage hard-to-reach groups of young people in their own environment.

The program recognises the barriers that many young people who have experienced trauma may face when accessing services.

Through purposeful, proactive and persistent engagement, we provide support and interventions to young people in spaces where they are most comfortable.
