The Frontyard Youth Services team responding to cases of youth homelessness.

Response

Summary

  • Unfortunately, homelessness can’t always be prevented and sometimes response services are needed.
  • Around 6,000 young people are currently spending the night without a home in Victoria and we work to lower that number as quickly as possible with our support services.
  • Our aim is to ensure people escape the cycle of homelessness and get back on track as soon as possible.

24/7 crisis centre in the CBD

For people looking for urgent assistance, Frontyard is a central hub for crisis accommodation and integrated supports for people aged 12 to 25.

Here, young people can drop in without appointments or referrals and receive personalised care.

Frontyard is located on King Street and includes 2 floors of accommodation and 2 floors of connected services such as health, legal assistance, family support and more.

Accommodation

We offer a range of accommodation options to cater to short-term and long-term needs.

Case management

We understand everybody’s situation is different and the level and type of support that is needed will vary from person to person.

In some instances, a case worker may be assigned to a young person. A case worker gets to know the individual, the issues they are facing and the goals they would like to achieve to offer the right support. A 3-month intensive case management program is also offered to new and expecting mums aged 16 to 24 and those without children in Melbourne’s north and west through our Young Women's Crisis Service.
